Minister of Interior: Preparations for the parliamentary elections have begun

“We have started preparations for the parliamentary elections,” said Minister of Interior and Municipalities Judge Bassam Mawlawi, “and the joint committee between the Interior and Foreign Affairs will issue a decision regarding the voting of expats.” So far, the elections have been held on time, and the law has not been amended.”

“The logistical arrangements and equipment are still in place,” he said in a televised interview, “and among our most prominent expenses are employee salaries and transportation allowances, and stationery can be easily supplied, and the United Nations will help us.”

“The state would shoulder the expenses of the elections since it is a sovereign issue,” Mawlawi said. In terms of the expatriate voting amendment, it is a legislative matter, and we will not propose changes to the law, and I believe the parliamentary adjustments are connected to deadlines.”
