Ministry of Energy announces unloading first shipment of gasoil

The Ministry of Energy and Water issued the following statement:

The first shipment of gasoil began to be unloaded today, after its arrival in Lebanon, loaded with 31 thousand tons, as part of the agreement signed by the Ministry of Energy and Water – General Directorate of Oil with the Iraqi side in Baghdad on July 24, 2021.

The ship will unload 15,000 of its cargo into the tanks of the Deir Ammar plant, and the 16,000 will be unloaded at the Al-Zahrani plant, and it will be followed by the Fuel Oil vessel “GRADE B” for reverse engines before the end of September.

The unloading process started after the conformity of the specifications was confirmed by the General Directorate of Oil and the concerned monitoring companies.

Through this agreement with the Iraqi side, Electricité du Liban will be supplied with up to 60,000 tons of fuel-oil and gas-oil per month, for a period of one year.

The Ministry of Energy and Water thanks the Iraqi authorities and all concerned for their efforts in these delicate circumstances that Lebanon is going through, and for extending a helping hand and assistance, which contributes to alleviating these difficult conditions.
