Noticeable surge in number of airport passengers from and to Lebanon

Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut is witnessing a remarkable activity in the number of passenger arrivals and departures.

The number of daily arrivals currently is hemming between 7,000 d and 8,000 passengers, most of which are Lebanese who are visiting the country before the glorious holidays and the end of 2021.

The number of overall passengers through the airport recorded around 56 percent increase during November reaching 343,004 passengers, bringing the total number of passengers from the beginning of the year till end of November 3,865,178 million passengers, compared to 2,209,526 passengers in the same period of the previous year 2020, an increase of 75 percent.

The number of flights through the airport also increased by 41 percent during November, reaching 3,350 flights.

The airport movement was distributed during the month of November 2021 as follows:

Passengers:

– The number of arrivals to Lebanon increased during November by 56.43 percent reaching 155,760 passengers.

– The number of departures increased by 56.18 percent and amounted to 186,462 passengers.

– The number of transit passengers decreased by 17.07 percent and amounted to 782 passengers, bringing the total number of passengers from the beginning of the to 343,004 passengers (an increase of 55.98 percent over the same month of the year 2020).

In 11 months, the total number of passengers through the airport reached 3,865,178 passengers (an increase of 74.93 percent over the same period last year), as the number of arrivals to Lebanon reached 1,830,257 passengers (an increase of 80 percent), and the number of departures recorded 2,027,047 passengers (an increase of 70 percent).

Airplane movement:

The total number of flights that used Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport during last November reached 3,350 (an increase of 41.46 percent compared the same month of last year 2020). The number of flights coming to Lebanon increased by 41 percent, and recorded 1,673 trips, and the number of trips departing from Lebanon increased by 42 percent, and recorded 1,677 trips.

It is noteworthy that the number of passengers through the airport recorded during the first two weeks of December 167,210 passengers, including 87,593 expatriates to Lebanon, and the number of flights reached 1,587 flights to and from Lebanon.
