Ongoing drop in Covid-19 infections and deaths

Ministry of Public Health announced on Wednesday that 115 new COVID-19 infections were reported over the past 24 hours, along with 4 deaths.

The total number of confirmed cases stands now at 542934.

In a related context, the head of the Parliamentary Health Committee MP Assem Araji, previously confirmed that “the number of coronavirus infections and deaths dropped significantly in Lebanon, and the positive results represent only 5 percent of the total, which is less than the global average.”

Araji announced during a TV interview, “The number of Covid-19 patients entering intensive care has also dropped significantly, and some Corona departments in hospitals have been closed.”

Araji said that the estimated number of people infected with Covid-19 is estimated at 45 percent to total population, and the vaccines that have been administrated, I think we will reach herd immunity in October or November, so we can go back to our normal life.”

He said, “We do not want to take restrictive measures or go to lockdown but we hope that people abide to the safety measures and continue wearing face masks.”
