President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, on Tuesday afternoon chaired a Supreme Defense Council meeting, to discuss the security situation and urgent matters.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, and ministers of: National Defense, Maurice Sleem, Finance, Youssef Khalil, Interior and Municiplaities, Bassam Mawlawi, and Economy and Trade, Amin Salam.

The meeting was also attended by the Council’s Secretary General, Major General Mahmoud Al-Asmar, and Presidency Director General, Dr. Antoine Choucair.

The session was preceded by a meeting between President Aoun and Premier Mikati, during which the pair discussed the latest developments.
