President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, met Agriculture and Culture Minister, Abbas Mortada, today at Baabda Palace, and addressed with him current ministerial affairs.

Minister Mortada briefed the President on the existing cooperation between his ministry and international organizations, and thanked President Aoun for signing the World Bank 10 million Dollar decree, which aims to support the agricultural sector in cooperation with FAO, provided that this decree comes into implementation in the next few days and benefits farmers on all Lebanese lands.

Statement of Minister Mortada:

After the meeting, the Agriculture and Culture Minister made the following statement:

“We have informed the President on all activities and projects of our ministry, in addition to the existing cooperation between our ministry and international organizations, in addition to the projects which we intend to undertake.

We thank President Aoun for signing the decree, and we thank the Parliament Speaker for speeding up the process of passing the law in the Parliament. We also would like to thank Premier Hassan Diab for helping put this amount at the disposal of farmers. The project will be in action in the next few weeks, and we will start supporting farmers on all Lebanese lands according to the statistics available at our ministry.

Moreover, we briefed the President about the status of our ministry and its work, in addition to the undergoing cooperation between it and international organizations”.
