Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, announced during the New Year’s mass, that “Lebanon is sick with the loss of its identity, and it is necessary for Lebanon to restore its lost health.”

He added, “We appreciate the promising initial step taken by the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Interior by setting the date for the parliamentary elections and signing the decree to hold it. We count on the authority to focus its attention in the coming months, on serious preparation for it, and creating the political and security atmosphere for it to take place, in additional to the presidential elections next October.”

Rahi pointed out that if the intentions are rightous and sincere to Lebanon and its people , the remaining period will be sufficient to revive government work, end negotiations with international financial institutions, control borders, and restore relations with the Gulf states, and Saudi Arabia in vanguard.
