The Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros Al-Rahi, demanded at his sermon in the Christmas Mass, to stop obstructing the election of a president for the republic, so that life would return to the constitutional institutions and the country would get out of its deadly financial, economic and social crises, and the people from their poverty, deprivation and oppression.

He said: “The mutual aversion between politicians prevents them from dialogue to get out of the crisis of electing the president, and the groaning of the hungry people does not reach the ears and consciences of officials.”

Rahi added, “I wish those who were shackled by their selfishness and interests would be liberated from its chains, so they would stop disrupting the sessions to elect the president, so that life would return to the constitutional institutions and the country would get out of its deadly crises and the people out of their poverty.”
