Riad Salameh, the Governor of the Banque du Liban, said that all officials in Lebanon, including the Presidency of the Republic, the government and the Supreme Defense Council, were informed of the decision to lift the subsidy.

“I informed everyone that if they wanted to spend from the reserve, they needed to pass a law in the Parliament allowing us to do so,” Salameh added.
