Former minister, Major General Ashraf Rifi, explained that “Iran has two cards regarding Lebanon on the negotiating table, the first is the governmental formation and the second is the maritime borders’ demarcation with Israel. Whenever it needs the formation card, we will be having a government within 24 hours. What we are witnessing today, from the interactions between Baabda and Beit al-Wasat, is nothing but a farce created by Hezbollah.

Rifi added in an interview: “I do not rule out that Iran, and through Hezbollah, will be playing the security card in Lebanon, just as it is happening in Iraq, where we will be witnessing political and security assassinations in the next phase.”

He asserted that “It is not time for parliamentary elections, because the state is still under occupation, and therefore any electoral results will be forged, as what happened in 2018.”
