According to press information, “the ball is in the court of ‘Alvarez & Marcel’ company, which is supposed to set the date of the forensic audit process,” noting that “the company is still studying the Central Bank response to 133 questions it had asked.”

Information indicated that “when the company is sure that all the data is available, it will work to bring a team of experts and auditors to Lebanon, to be able, within 12 weeks, to prepare a preliminary report that includes the reality of the situation in the Central Bank.”

This matter will continue “even if the law related to banking secrecy will expire at the end of the year.”

The observers have considered that “what is happening is the first executive step that will be followed by other steps,” stressing that “political monitoring of this issue continues.”
