The crazy rise of black market dollar, returned revolutionaries to the streets

On the impact of the crazy rise of the black market dollar, the revolutionaries returned to the streets, as the dollar recorded more than 17,000 Lebanese pounds.

A number of citizens in the town of Al-Shehabiyah in the Tire district blocked the roads leading to many southern towns with tires and containers, in protest against keeping gas stations closed, the deteriorating economic conditions and the high price of the dollar.

The Beddawi International Highway is still blocked in both directions at the al-Mankoubin junction and in front of the Akumi gas station, after protesters closed it over the deteriorating living conditions with cars, trucks and tires.

And some of the region’s actors tried to reopen the highway, but their attempts were unsuccessful.

Protesters also blocked the Halba highway, protesting against the high exchange rate of the dollar, the complete collapse of the lira, and the complete lack of purchasing power for citizens.

Today, Lebanon is witnessing the worst economic crisis in its modern history, as its national currency has lost more than 90% of its purchasing value.
