UN’s Wronecka after meeting with Mikati: We have lent our full support to the government’s efforts

Prime Minister Najib Mikati received on Friday the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronecka, at the Grand Serail.

Following the meeting, Wronecka affirmed: “Today, I visited President Mikati following his participation in the Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, and our discussion focused on the Security Council session on November 29, regarding the ongoing preparations for the meeting. In the meantime, we are working on a report that we will send to the United Nations Secretary-General, which will be published by mid-November.”

The purpose of these consultative meetings, she continued, is to analyze the course of political changes in Lebanon and come up with an objective evaluation.

“We also reviewed the broader general situation in Lebanon, and President Mikati described where we are from these conditions, so we expressed full support for the government’s effort, encouraged it to continue with the necessary changes,” she said. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, and with the involvement of ambassadors accredited to Lebanon, a meeting will be held on Monday, March 8th, with the goal of focusing on the course of the upcoming elections in March and helping Lebanon in this regard.”
