Unidentified persons hack the citizens’ WhatsApp accounts, through asking them to resend the “confirmation code” that was previously sent to them by text messages, claiming that it was sent by mistake. The hacker, upon receiving the returned confirmation code, seizes the WhatsApp account of these people, and withdraw sinformation and data from their device, to communicate in the same way with the “contacts” phone numbers listed on these accounts.

Accordingly, the General Directorate of Public Security warns citizens to be careful not to fall victim to these actions, and asks them not to provide confirmation codes for WhatsApp accounts that reach them to any party, even if they are from their personal acquaintances.
