“We don’t have any other option if we are keen on preserving our nation,” says Lebanese Minister of Health

The Minister of Public Health, Firas Abiad, affirmed: “Lebanon is in a terrible condition, with numerous financial, social, and epidemiological issues, and the political scenario does not help us go forward. It is our obligation to find a route ahead and methods to aid in this tough scenario. The existing capabilities may be a huge impediment, but we have no other choice if we want to keep the nation.”

“When it took office in the Management Department at Rafic Hariri University Hospital, its situation was very difficult, and its annual loss amounted to approximately 16 million dollars, in addition to accumulated strikes and the employees’ failure to earn their salaries, until we were able with the team to revive the hospital,” he said in a radio interview.

“From my current position, I see a great determination and intention to re-establish the country. There is a path to reform” noting that “the stage of indifference experienced by the citizen, especially with the spread of COVID-19, can end when we rebuild trust,” Abiad added.
