What was the overall inflation rate for foodstuff from 2018 to 2021?

The Central Administration for Statistics (CAS), which publishes the Consumer Price Index on a monthly basis, announced that it has prepared an analytical series to clarify the impact of the economic and financial crisis on prices.

These figures show the total or cumulative inflation for the specified period. The purpose of these figures is to highlight the impact of the crisis on the prices paid by consumers and should be used for analysis only.

It is noteworthy that the official inflation rate in Lebanon is the change for 12 months, which is the change between the current month and the same month in the previous year. For example, the official inflation rate for October 2021 measures the change between October 2021 and October 2020.

Total Inflation

Inflation rate from December 2018 to October 2021 was 562 percent

Inflation rate from December 2019 to October 2021 was 519 percent

Inflation rate from December 2020 to October 2021 was 152 percent

Annual inflation rate (end of the period – December to December)

Inflation rate for 2018 was 4 percent

Inflation rate for 2019 was 7 percent

Inflation rate for 2020 was 145 percent

Inflation rate for the year 2021 until October 2021 was 151 percent

 

Gross inflation rate of food and non-alcoholic beverages

From December 2018 to October 2021 was 2067 percent

From December 2019 to October 2021 was 1874 percent

From December 2020 to October 2021 was 293 percent

 

Gross inflation rate for clothes and shoes

From December 2018 to October 2021 was 1911 percent

From December 2019 to October 2021 was 1614 percent

From December 2020 to October 2021 was 160 percent
