The head of the Bakery Owners Syndicate in Mount Lebanon, Antoine Seif, said that “the subsidy for wheat will be lifted won’t be lifted, especially in these circumstances, stressing that the linking of bread to the dollar will not be priced because its price is already put based on dollar currency in an indirect way.”

He said in a radio interview: “It used to be that the issue of the price of bread was reviewed every week, but the price did not exceed the ceiling of 500 to 1,000 Lebanese pounds.”

It is reported that the agent of the mills in the south, Ali Ramal, explained earlier, “The bakers are suffering from a great shortage of wheat and have reached the point of final depletion.”
